He started out with taking pictures of the bomb-damaged industrial land around his home and then he added in some fashion models.  Terence Donovan actually started the trend of positioning the models in stark and gritty urban environments and calling it fashionable.  Flats and gasometers were among some of the most popular destinations for this photographer’s vision.

Before he died in 1996, Terence Donovan had made it big and shot for huge magazines like Harpers Bazaar and Vogue and to be honest, his memory still lives on today.

The other cool thing about Jo Duck is the fact that she works with models that are not super high on the model-chain yet.  She actually works mostly with up-and-comers, so if you are looking for a way to get yourself in the modeling industry, Jo Duck could be the chick that helps you with that.

Jo Duck’s work has appeared pretty much everywhere, from countless billboards all the way to tons of different publications – so keep your eyes peeled!

Edgar de Evia’s experience is well known but that is not what I am going to honor here.  If we were a blog looking for photographers that just do all sorts of advertising campaigns and such, we would be a different blog – we are all about fashion photographers and that is exactly what this Mexico-born photographer is all about.

Take this particular picture for example.  I absolutely love the way that it looks, the umbrella, the position of the people and by far the fact that it is in black and white.  Edgar de Evia definitely has talent leaking all over the place and I think that he can absolutely pull off some high editorial things – if he was still alive that is…

I have to admit that at first I was a little taken back by Guy Bourdin’s photography.  While I did not want to be because I know that it is all fashion photography, I could not help but really be taken back by it, but after exploring a little bit more, I realized that he is a shocker photographer.  He is in it for the shock and some of his ads honestly come out incredible!

While in almost every single one of his pictures, a woman is naked, they are usually doing something different and unique.  For example, he has a picture that has a woman face down, naked with a stream of blood coming out of her mouth.  While that might be a little morbid, it is also extremely beautiful.

So if you want shocking and art, you should definitely take a look at Guy Bourdin, he’s totally fashion and totally art – incredible all over the place!

One thing that I’ve noticed about fashion photography is that a lot of people do not understand it really.  To be honest, I don’t really understand it sometimes, but when I came across this picture by Bruno Dyan, I thought it looked pretty neat and it seems that the more you stare at it, the more you kind of get it.  All of the elements in the photo truly are there for a reason and that is what I like about it!

Bruno Dyan is actually a newer photographer and I think that he is going to definitely be on the up and comer list soon if he keeps churning out pictures like this one.  This picture looks absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and I think that you should take a second look at it!

So really — Bruno Dyan people, he is pretty freakin’ awesome with his bad self!

One photography section that does not seem to get a whole lot of attention is the fetish and bondage section and that is exactly what Dixie Fernandez does.  This is just one of the many pictures she has taken where she has placed the model in some type of bondage wear.

Personally, I am not into the fetish photography myself, but I think that it is kind of neat the way that they do it.  I love leather and they definitely do use a lot of that, but I think for me, it is more of a control thing.  I like to be in control versus being controlled, so that is my problem.

But ladies and gentlemen, Dixie Fernandez is a brand new photographer that is an up and comer in the bondage fashion photography and you heard it here first!

All right – I have to say that I did not think that I would be doing someone with the last name of Bartholomew, but upon more thought about this blog, I realized that Pablo Bartholomew definitely deserves the spotlight and at least once blog post – after this incredible photo, I really think that he deserves more than just one blog post but we only have time for just one!

This photo spoke to me.  Now, personally, I am more of a morbid person and I have more of a morbid personality, so whenever I see anything like this, it really makes me pay attention and kind of really touches my soul.  That is what this haunting yet incredible photo did to me.  It made me sit up straight and really look at it.

In short, this photo is basically a baby burial and while a lot of people find that incredibly disturbing, I actually find it incredibly interesting.  There are some things that are just strange and some things that are weird and this is one of those things that is just different and strange – all rolled up in one photo!

Richard Avedon is one of those photographers that I actually read up on because I liked his photography so much.  Not only are his photos something that look incredible but he is also an American photographer – which is very strange because most of the time, these photos like this one here are done by European photographers.

Richard was actually born in NYC and while he was Jewish-Russian, he actually attended Columbia University and he started in photography in 1942, which is incredible because way back then, there were not a lot of photographers that would do something like this.  Although this incredible guy died in 2004, his pictures will live on forever.

Another cool thing about this particular photographer is the fact that he is also an author.  He has wrote so many different things that honestly, if you wanted to know more about how to become a photographer like him – you could certainly do that!

It is pretty obvious that Mike Rosenthal is extremely talented, but not only is he talented in his ability to take a fantastic photo, but he possesses a talent to take some of the most radical photos in the world!  I mean, are you all a fan of America’s Next Top Model?  Well, I am, and when I saw some of the photos that Mike was producing, I definitely had to do a blog about him!

Not only does he have a point of view that comes straight through his very controversial photos, but he also has a way of capturing something that is so morbid and so beautiful at the same time.

Mike Rosenthal is definitely the newest up-and-comer this year and while he is featured in a whole bunch of episodes of America’s Next Top Model, he is booking all sorts of different campaigns and you should definitely be seeing more of his work!  Also, don’t forget to search for him – honestly, he has done some beautiful photos for ANTM and even if you aren’t a fan of the show, you definitely should be able to appreciate this guy’s talent.

So when I was doing research for this blog, I had quite a hard time finding a decent photographer to write about and then, then, I stumbled upon Naomi Kaltman and readers, it was all over!  This girl is not simply a photographer; rather she is a fashion/celebrity photographer that makes her living out of taking beautiful, breathtaking picture of celebrities and/or fashion!

She has taken pictures of Jonathan Reese Myer, Hillary Duff and many, many other celebrities.  For instance, have you seen the picture above?  It is absolutely beautiful and well, I am totally in love with that boy!

So if you are in the market for a photographer and you are looking for the very best, why not get yourself Naomi Kaltman?  Now, she most likely is booking a lot of campaigns and such right now, but for the right price, who knows if you will be able to get her to take some of those beautiful pictures of your wedding/any other special occasion!
